If I'm not out reporting a profile or editing a video essay on the films of Claire Denis, you can probably find me at the climbing gym, somewhere in the woods, or at home, watching one of the films of Claire Denis. A 2021 graduate of The Media School at Indiana University with a BA in Journalism and a minor in Studio Art, I've always been a lover of film, art, and artmaking and love nothing more than when the work I do as a reporter intersects with those other things I love.
As a reporter for The Media School, I've covered Alumni Stories and School News, including event covers, profiles, and features on student and faculty projects. I've also written for the IU Cinema's
A Place for Film blog, first about Wong Kar-Wai's masterpiece "In the Mood for Love" for its 20th birthday and again about Wim Wenders' epic oddity "Until the End of the World" and making sense of the apocalypse. I also wrote a semester-long weekly film column and covered the local film beat, both for the Indiana Daily Student.
I've also interned abroad – in London, where the above photo was snapped at West Kensington Underground Station, I worked for shots.net, a publication focusing on the ad industry – and back home, for Bloomington's WFIU.
Through my work I feel a deep love for storytelling as act and art – and I enjoy the ability to chronicle others' lives and passions as much as I admire the fruits of those passions themselves. Especially when celluloid is involved. I'm interested in journalistic and academic film writing, especially horror and queer cinemas, canon-building and curation, the Criterion Collection, and of course the works of Claire Denis. Outside of my professional and academic work, I enjoy rock climbing, long hikes, blue skies, good conversation and a weekly trip to the movies.
